Hey, everyone. I’m back for the second week in a row. Go me. I even managed to read everyone’s posts last week. I feel productive.
***Side Note**** I’ll do my best each week to read all the post, but I take care of two older adults pretty much twenty-four hours a day (as I mentioned earlier), so some weeks, depending on health issues and doctors’ appointments, I might not get to everyone. I apologize.
Today, I’m picking up from where I left off last week. The novella that I’m sharing from is book one of my Valeterra series, titled Marked. This novella is also a paranormal romance set in a parallel world. I’ll be sending it to my editor this week sometime. I had hoped to send it last week, but I didn’t finish my latest read-through in time.
The following is from Jackson’s point of view. He’s told Stephanie that if going to ask other to volunteer, he should volunteer as well.

Unfortunately, when I had haphazardly tossed the files onto my desk in a show of indifference to the possible mates, hers had shifted so that her picture stuck out enough for me to see her face. Damned it. If it hadn’t been for her, I wouldn’t have volunteered to be one of the few alphas who would be attempting to seek a mate outside of Valeterra; therefore, I wouldn’t be having this uncomfortable conversation.
“You aren’t the one asking them. The entire committee voted to do this. Only a few of the alphas volunteered. None of you have to do this. I mean, you guys didn’t leave yourselves much of a choice by limiting volunteering open only to alphas, but you don’t have to volunteer. There are over a thousand alphas from all over Valeterra, and about half are without mates. More of them can come forward. Once they see that those who have volunteered have found their mates among the humans, more will sign up. You shouldn’t feel obligated to do something you’re not comfortable doing.”
