Hello, everyone. I’m sorry I didn’t get to everyone’s posts last week. We had lots of doctor’s appointments and some stressful days with my father-in-law. His neurologist has taken him off a medication that I think was helping keep his mood mellow. I understand why he did so, after researching the drug, but if this keeps up, the doctor is going to have to do something else. L
Anyway, on to what you’ve come her for. Today, I’m picking up from where I left off last week with Marked, book one of my Valeterra series. This novella is a paranormal romance set in a parallel universe. It is currently in editing, but I do have a tentative synopsis and a cover, both of which you’ll find after the snippet.
The following is from Jackson’s point of view. He’s told Stephanie that if going to ask others to volunteer, he should volunteer as well.

As hard as I tried, I hadn’t been able to stop myself from cutting my eyes to the woman’s photo. I had known the second I’d flipped to her file that I would be volunteering for the project. She was my mate. I didn’t need to read her file, didn’t need to see her in person. My wolf knew the second my eyes had scanned her photo that she was ours.
“All right. How do we start?” Stephanie asked, reaching across my desk and scooping up the files. She glanced quickly at the photo sticking awkwardly out of the stack but didn’t react to it in any way.

That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for stopping by. If you want to read more excerpts from other authors or if you want to join in the fun, stop by the Snippet Sunday FB page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SnippetSunday/
***Side Note**** I’ll do my best each week to read all the post, but I take care of two older adults, one with dementia and one showing early signs of it, pretty much twenty-four hours a day (as I mentioned earlier), so some weeks, depending on health issues and doctors’ appointments, I might not get to everyone. I apologize if I don’t get to you.

Marked, Valeterra Series Book 1 – Coming Soon
For ten years, the people of Valeterra have watched a plague sweep across their world, killing nearly every supernatural creature in its path. As scientists from both the human world and Valeterra work on the way to stop the plague, the Valeterrian government is working on the way to repopulate their world with babies born immune to the disease.
In her thirties, single, and a bit of a bigger girl, Valerie has given up on ever finding love. She’s resigned herself to running her bookstore and growing old with only her baby sister. When a strange woman comes to her store with a story full of parallel universes, supernatural creatures, and plagues, and a proposal for how Valerie can help save Valeterra from extinction, Valerie is sure the woman is insane. Valerie’s opinion changes, though, when she loses her livelihood. Sad and angry, she throws caution to the wind and embarks on a journey that she fears will either kill her or break her heart.
Jackson lost his first mate over fifty years ago. He knows his world is in peril. He knows his pack is on shaky ground, but all the alpha wants to do is wallow in his grief. When he discovers that his second mate is a human woman who is also immune to the virus sweeping Valeterra, he has some hard decisions to make. He doesn’t want a new mate. He also knows that he can’t deny his second chance at love and the first real chance his world might have at eventually recovering from so much death.
