Weekly Author Update:
I'm happy to announce that things have been fairly quiet around my house as of late...comparatively speaking that is. My FIL still blamed me, who was across the house, for the fact that the cat, who was in his lap, knocked over his coffee. He told the bath lady I pick on him all day. I have no idea where that came from, and he got mad that I went to empty his urinal and wash my hands immediately after helping pee instead of handing him his food. I'm not touching his plate if there is even a hint of urine on my hands. Not doing it. He can just be ill. I didn't react to any of these things, but the telling the bath aid I pick on him hurt my heart. The only thing I can think of that I did was slightly move his foot, the one he told me was hurting to see if I could figure out what could be causing him pain other than the wounds he already had. I barely touched the foot because I already knew it was hurting, but he seemed to be complaining more than usual, so I thought maybe he had it at an odd angle and was putting more pressure on his wound. He screamed like I was pulling the leg from his body. I called my husband and the nurse immediately. We are upping his diabetic nerve pain and trying a low dose pain med. He doesn't do well oral pain meds. Even after I told him what we going to try he acted like I wasn't doing enough for him. That's the way things go for most caregivers. You don't get "I love yous" and "thank yous," you get attitude and resentment and blamed for most things.
Anyway, on to more happy things. I'm still working on the one non-fiction project. I'm about halfway through what my original goal for the piece was. I'm not saying I won't surpass it, but I am moving along with it faster than I ever thought I would, and I might have an idea for another piece similar two it. I have sort of abandoned the very first idea, but as I mentioned earlier, I was so angry when I started it, I didn't think it was anything I would publish, but it did lead me to where I am now, so that's something.
Other than the two excerpts I posted this week from Shore Haven and Awake, I haven't worked on either piece, but I think by next week, if things stay as calm as they are, which what are the chances, I'll have to get back to work on at least Shore Haven, if nothing else. It should be back from its first round of edits by then as well.
Enjoy this picture of me and Midnight. He doesn't like it when I'm on my phone or laptop. He actually chews on the phone when he wants my attention.
